Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry
Who We Are
DATRI (which means “giver” in Sanskrit) is India’s largest unrelated blood stem cell donors registry. Our mission is simple — to give patients battling blood cancers and other fatal blood disorders a second chance at life, by helping them find a matching blood stem cell donor.
Since our inception in 2009, we have helped facilitate life-saving transplants for patients across India and abroad, by building a diverse database of voluntary donors who are ready to step up when a match is found.
Why We Exist
For patients suffering from leukemia, thalassemia, aplastic anemia, and certain immune disorders, a blood stem cell transplant is often the only potential cure. However, the chances of finding a match — even within one’s family — are slim. Finding an unrelated donor with a matching Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) type is crucial, but difficult.
